random

Summer's been dreadfully hot & I can't wait until fall arrives next week, with hopes it'll bring much cooler weather. as much as I have enjoyed my garden, vegetables & flowers...I soo look forward to the changing of the leaves and being able to have the windows open rather than have the ac on 24/7.

Courtney & Connor both have ortho appts tomorrow. It'll be a beautiful day to drive to Paris! Perhaps we'll visit with Mother a while too.

We're going to a fruit, vegetable, & plant auction tonight...I'm anxious to buy mums & get the fall decor put out front!

I'm not feeling the greatest today, could be due to the fact that I've not had alot of sleep lately AND that I've had more bourbon slushes & red roosters this weekend than I've had in YEARS!! Plus, I don't think I'm caught up from helping sister & Chris move last weekend. We hung new blinds throughout their house yesterday. Maybe it's just now caught up with me.

I'm way far behind on card making.. I had hopes for today, but that's shot now.. it's time for CC to be home from school soon & there are lunch dishes to be washed. Don't think I'm cooking tonight, didn't cook last night either as it was the Season Finale of True Blood!! We just may have take out. I'm craving pizza/tomato based sauce.. maybe it'll be Snappy Tomato Pizza, haven't had it since they opened. Have heard good reviews however.

busy week

This morning has already been busy having to uncover everything in the garden from last night's frost advisory! It was 40 this morning and we're supposed to have another frost advisory tonight..hopefully everything will be ok. It'll be a busy week, ALL WEEK LONG. Today I have to take invitations to the post office for Courtney's party this weekend and when she gets home from school today, we have to go to Walmart to order her cake. They didn't really have alot to choose from for a "pre-teen"...she really liked the idea of the cake with her picture on it, I think that's what she's going to choose. The rest of the week I will be cleaning the house and getting things together for the party, including shopping for her birthday. She has decided that she wants money..cash, not gift cards. That way, she can spend it where ever she wants. There are a couple of games she wants for her nintendo ds but she really hasn't asked for anything else. (Except for a new cell phone, which her Dad has already got..he put her on his plan so she doesn't have to keep the old pay-to-go phone that she has) On Thursday, Courtney will be home, fasting all day with a liquid diet only in preparation for her full colonoscopy and endoscope that will be done around 6 a.m. on Friday. I pray that all goes well and that it turns out to be just irritable bowel syndrome (as they have previous diagnosed). She is very nervous about it but the doctors have told her that the worst part is the preparation the day before..pooping all day to clean her system out. Hopefully she'll feel up to the weekend. Her best friend Taylor is supposed to come over Saturday afternoon to go to Gattitown with us for the evening and to spend the night. Her birthday party is Sunday, she decided she wants to have a cookout instead of a pizza party since she'll be eating pizza on Saturday all day/night. The weather is calling for thunderstorms most of the weekend. At least we can cook outside and eat inside if we have to. For now, I'm headed to the shower and then to the post office. Until next time, hugs!

I haven't written in a long time.. mainly due to my addiction of Facebook and not having the extra time to sit down and do it. Rick is on vacation today. It's a windy 64 degrees...the sun is out, but it's very cool. The day began with Rick being up sick in the downstairs bathroom and the rest of us getting up later than we should. The kids got up fairly easy considering there wasn't much spare time for them. The bus ran around 7:35 and Rick was still in bed. He slept until almost 11:30, needing the sleep with the phenergan he took for his stomach. I made some cards this morning in the peace and quiet, with the exception of the neighbor's dog barking constantly. I went to lunch with my sister-in-law, we ate at Tumbleweed, her favorite place for us to go because her husband doesn't like it. He likes Golden Corral, Ryans and other places that have buffets. He likes a variety rather than ordering from a menu. I am very fortunate to have Nancy for my sister-in-law, she has been a constant friend to me and has always been good to my children. I'm so sleepy today. This cool weather certainly makes me want to have my den window open and take a catnap in the reclining sofa with Granny's cold quilt! :) (kind of like when you first get in the bed and wallow around in all of the cold spots) But, there's quite a bit to do before the kids get home. Not sleeping at night makes me very sleepy and slow the next day, you would think that after over 2 years of not sleeping at night often, I would be used to it! We had a good day yesterday on Mother's Day. Rick, the children and I went to church, it was a very good service. Lots of jokes being made about being submissive to your husband and how the man is the head of the household...also about Godly Women...certainly leaves me out for the most part. I do try to be better everyday than the day before, some just work out better than others. Della, Chris,Felicia and Mom came up for a cook out. We grilled hotdogs and burgers, Della made her famous baked beans (at my request) and I, well, I just provided a place to eat, relax and had the buns, condiments, drinks and desert. I made a sugar cream pie, the recipe was Granny's sister-in-law's..Betty Shanks (Jesse Brown's wife) and I also made a butterscotch pie(Granny's recipe) and Della brought a lemon strusel cake, which was delightful.(my favorite of the sweets) After eating, we sat out on the back deck, watching Rick transplant strawberry plants and till the garden, again, the ground is so saturated that it will take days to dry enough before planting the tomato plants, beets, and radishes. It will be nice this summer to enjoy all of them. Della, Chris and Felicia went to Chris' family's house for Mother's Day, where they had a cookout also! We could have planned for other food had we known that's what they were going to do, but we didn't. By the time everyone gathered their belongings and left, it was time for the Amazing Race and I have to say that I was soooo dissapointed that Margie and Luke didn't win. I cheered them on the entire race. Connor cried so much, they were his team too. Speaking of Connor, he won the writing, spelling and tender heart awards at school on Friday during Awards Night!! He is only in the first grade, but he is my prodigy with the writing, he too prints everything he writes. Well, looks like my time is up for now, the kids will be home in about 45 minutes from school and then it's homework, supper and bathtime. Until next time, hugs.

Today has not been a good day. Nothing EVER changes in this house. EVER. If I am able to go to sleep, I'll be glad to close my eyes and look forward to another day.

I've learned lately not to make plans. Today, I made plans and they're out the window. My vehicle had to be taken to the shop for an overall check and the morning looked promising. Rick and I had a nice morning together...I didn't think he was going to get ready for work, having to be there at 10:00 and not even getting in the shower until 9:30! He was looking hot too I must say. He left for work, I made a huge kettle of chili and as I was finishing the dishes, my neighbor called to thank me for her dinner last night. (I had taken her some baked spaghetti that I had made. She lost her husband March 31...so I take her things when I think of it.. more often lately.) As for my plans, Rick and I were going to lunch today and also to the grocery to pick up things for his potluck at work next Tuesday. I got in the shower late, because I was on the phone so long with my neighbor and then I called my sister at work. ( I don't get to talk to her as often at night with her being re-married and with all that she has to do and put up with during the evenings now.) While I'm in the shower, the phone rang-or so I thought-I continued rushing in the shower to get ready by the time Rick got here for lunch. After drying off the phone rang again..it was the school. Connor's school. The school nurse advised me that he was in the nurse's office, sick at his stomach and with rosey cheeks. I knew better than to make plans. Something always comes up. With my van in the shop, I had to call Rick at work to go to school to pick him up. So rather than waste my time straightening my hair and putting make up on, I dried my hair curly and put on my jeans and am tending to a sick boy.

On The Countdown!

The countdown began with day one being #201!! I'm finally down to only 5 days left!!! We leave this Saturday the 19 to go to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week. Neither the kids or I have been, but Rick visited there appx. 15 years ago (with his former wife--nice to think he may "remember" their visit..of course that's what I'll be thinking the entire time we're there. Or not, hopefully.) The children are quite excited. We have an Oceanfront room with the hotel sitting right on the beach. This is an advantage I think, (as we won't have to cross the highway to get to the beach) unless however there is a hurricane.. Bertha is on the way out they say now. I have all of the laundry done (after a full day of 9 loads yesterday!! Why on earth do I let it pile up like that?)finally, the beach towels are folded on the dryer, waiting to be put in the suitcase! I think we'll have a suitcase full of nothing but swimwear and towels! Which is just simply fine with me! I asked Rick last night what he was looking forward to the most..just being away from that c-r-a-z-y job of his, being on the beach every day, being in the water(which he has a boogie board for) or what?? His reply was, "I'll be excited when I'm there on the beach having a big steak to put in my belly"! I'm like are you kidding me???? I look forward to basking in the sun for endless hours, with the sand beneath my toes and floating in the grandest pool of all..the Atlantic!! Woo Hoo!!!!

You're Caller #1!

This morning was an extra long one in bed..due to the fact that the children were on a 2 hour delay because of an inch of snow on the ground(????). I had been up around 10 till 6:00 earlier but when the alarm went off just a few minutes later, I put my weary eyes back to rest. (not to sleep, but closed to rest just an extra minute) The breakfast club show was on and they were giving a weeekend entertainment package away to the first 3 callers!! I picked up the phone, dialed the number and listened for an answer(knowing that someone who listens every day had the # programed into their phone and had gotten through before me)..."Good morning, who am I speaking with", the voice asked...I told him my name and he said"Congratulations, you're caller #1 and have just won two tickets to see Rachel Price's jazz concert on Saturday night and two free passes to a movie of your choice at Carmike Cinema"!!!! I was so surprised! The last time I actually won something was a $100 bill while playing bingo!! I do not know who Rachel Price is (yet, haven't looked her up), but I do have a sitter for the 6 year old and my husband and I hate a date for Saturday night! As for the 2 movie tickets, I think I'm going to save them for a movie I really want to see!
